I have been eating at Howard's since I was a youngster but began anew recently with my colleagues who are also aficionados of good South Texas barbeque.
We all travel a lot and eat out a lot on the road and between the three of us (Mac, Levi and myself) we have about 150 years of experience eating BBQ (Levi's the baby of the group, he is still working on 30 or so) and I have been raising the beef to make good BBQ for a lot of that time so it just made sense we write about it! And it made sense to start right here in Corpus Christi where there are as many good BBQ joints as there are Mexican food restaurants! So we begin with one of our favorite places....

Howard's is a good place to start in discovering BBQ since it is right there near the top in value as well as selection, taste, tenderness and juiciness.
I had the Howard's Plate with two meats: some nice fatty brisket and tender pork ribs! I added a couple of sides (a fresh salad and potato salad) and a corn bread muffin and a glass of iced tea.I like the cooked fat with my brisket (my cholesterol levels are low - something that baffles my good doctors - must be my Neanderthal genes! ) but you can get nice lean brisket as well. I added the salad so that I would have something green!

The young lady who waited on us directed us to clean table and made sure we had everything we needed and even found a chair to put my old hat on! I think we left her a good tip, Mac always makes sure we do.
We all agreed that we would give Howard's at least FOUR STARS and reserve the right to perhaps give them more! Go see them, you would regret it!
